Noel Coward was one of the Queen's most loyal patrons. On one occasion, actor Clifton Webb was on board and the two started talking and Webb became teary-eyed while telling Coward about recently losing his mother. In typical Noel Coward fashion, he responded with, "The one thing I can't stand are these deplorable tears from a sixty-seven-year-old orphan".
